Caitlin read the first Harry Potter book. We celebrated by watching the movie and having special snacks. We had chocolate slugs (gummie worms covered in chocolate), every beans, and wands (licorice.) Nothing like a plate fun of sugar to add to the fun!
Caitlin loved the book and movie, although she hated the book the first time she tried reading it. 7 1/2 was the right age for her to read it. Davey was not a fan of the movie at first but he came around.
Go see Leigh vs. Laundry to see more photos that will make you happy.

How fun! I bet that is a great age to start the series!!
How cool! My 8 year old has no interest in reading the books yet. I think he's put off by the size of them LOL.
We have those same IKEA plates.. ;)
I love the snack idea. May have to steal it for when we do our Harry Potter viewing.
Super fun- love the colors of the licorice.
What a fun way to experience and celebrate Harry Potter!
What a cute idea! Love it...and I know she did, too.
Looks like fun :)
What a fun way to tie into the book. I'm glad the kids came around!
I don't blame Caitlin for not liking the book at first - it is very wordy - I gave up after a few pages...
Looks like lots of sugary fun!
Love the idea of having them read the book before the movie!! (and now I would like some chocolate covered gummies)
I hate licorice :)) But love candy!
