The Year I Felt Old

Birthdays never made me feel old. I remember my Dad asking me every year as a kid if I felt older on my birthday.  I never felt any different until this year.  I feel about 80 my age.  My hips hurt a lot. I couldn't sit at the computer for more than a couple minutes. My hip pain was really caused by a compressed disc in my back. I've been going to a chiropractor for 2 months. The back pain/hip pain has diminished but I'm still afraid to re-injure it. The chiropractor restricted my exercise to walking, the elliptical machine, and prescribed strength exercises. This week doc gave me the go ahead to start running/walking intervals. The back and hip felt fine the first day I ran but the next day the hip pain was back. I'm bummed.

I just signed up for the Color Me Rad 5k in April.  I thought I'd have plenty of time to be better. Now I'm not so sure.  It looks like such a fun 5K.

The number of my birthday never made me feel old but the aches and pains that have started definitely do. Getting old stinks but it is better than the alternative.

More Elf Antics

My favorite elf shenanigan this year was the balloons.

I also love this too. I got the elf sized photo props from Living Locurto. She is so creative. The kids loved this too.

Boston in December

Last weekend, I met up with old of my dearest friends in Boston. I've always wanted to see Boston at Christmas time.  Even the horses dress up for the holidays.
The Public Gardens looked beautiful with a light layer of snow.
Amy and I in front of the tree in the Boston Commons.

So pretty.

Seeing Boston in December and seeing my dear friend make me really happy.

Go see Leigh vs. Laundry to see more photos that will make you happy.
