Birthdays never made me feel old. I remember my Dad asking me every year as a kid if I felt older on my birthday. I never felt any different until this year. I feel
about 80 my age. My hips hurt a lot. I couldn't sit at the computer for more than a couple minutes. My hip pain was really caused by a compressed disc in my back. I've been going to a chiropractor for 2 months. The back pain/hip pain has diminished but I'm still afraid to re-injure it. The chiropractor restricted my exercise to walking, the elliptical machine, and prescribed strength exercises. This week doc gave me the go ahead to start running/walking intervals. The back and hip felt fine the first day I ran but the next day the hip pain was back. I'm bummed.
I just signed up for the
Color Me Rad 5k in April. I thought I'd have plenty of time to be better. Now I'm not so sure. It looks like such a fun 5K.
The number of my birthday never made me feel old but the aches and pains that have started definitely do. Getting old stinks but it is better than the alternative.
