First and Last
School ended a week ago for Caitlin but I forgot to post her first and last day of first grade until now. Seeing Caitlin off to school each morning makes me happy. I know I will go back to work soon and I won't be able to be there each morning. I am thankful that I have been able to do it for so long. Go see Leigh vs. Laundry to see more photos that will make you happy.

Beach Loving!
The kids have only been on school vacation since last Wednesday but we have already made some good summer memories. We went to the beach twice already.
Perfect way to cool off in those 90 degree temperatures!
I love when they play together so well. There is something magical about the beach, which is why we'll be there each week at least once!

How to Remove Duct Tape from a Dog (or How my Dog Tried to Give Himself a Bikini Wax)
So good ole Maximus came into the house with Duct tape all over his nether regions. (I would use the proper term but I'm trying to avoid people coming here on weird word searches.) There was duct tape on the kiddie pool where there is a small crack. Key word was. Apparently it wasn't sticking to the pool but it did stick to Maximus.
We first tried to remove it by spraying the duct tape with water. It didn't really loosen it up much. Next we got baby lotion and tried to rub it under the tape to loosen it from his fur and skin. That did the job. Slowly we were able to peel it off. I had to hold him in place while Dave removed the tape. Needless to say we were all happy when all the tape was removed.

Smiling
I forgot to post these earlier but I taught Caitlin how to ride her bike over April vacation. She was nervous but she got it. Now she loves riding her bike. I wish we had a driveway or sidewalk for her to ride on.

Just Not Meant to Be
So we had the kids' birthday parties this weekend. I got buckets with shovels for the "goody" bag. I thought it would be great to paint Angry Bird faces on them to go with the theme. Being as organized as I always am, we painted them the day before. I soon discovered that tempera paint would not work on plastic buckets. After researching, I brought oil based paints. We finished painting them by 10 pm.
At 8am, I discovered they were still wet. I tried using the hair dryer to speed up the drying. I soon gave up and put them outside to dry. I then had to go out and buy another set of buckets. I slapped some Angry Bird stickers on them and called it a day. The paint on the buckets is still wet. Does anyone know if they will ever dry? I foresee a radical Angry Bird game is going to played in the back yard if it does.
