Details

The art teacher told Caitlin adding details to drawing can make them more interesting. Caitlin added lots of details of this drawing of her brother showering. Definitely made it interesting.

Rocking Out Like Dad

We love Pearl Jam in our house. I caught the boys rocking out before bath time.
I love that Davey mimics his dad's moves.

Watching my boys rock out makes me so happy. Go see Leigh vs. Laundry to see more photos that will make you happy.

Mustache Fun

I've been looking for fake mustaches. I found them online but I would have to pay about $15 with shipping. That is a lot for fake mustache fun. I figured out I could make them out of stiffened felt with self adhesive on one side. I simply drew the 'tache on the side with the paper for the adhesive and cut. Total cost = 99 cents.
Caitlin insisted we take a family photo with the mustaches too.

Having some goofy fun with my family makes me so happy. Go see Leigh vs. Laundry to see more photos that will make you happy.

Static full Caitlin.
Caitlin is loving science. We have been doing experiments at home.
The first day that is snowed. Pretty.
Caitlin at Girl Scouts practicing a cheer we learned.
Sleepy Maximus. I woke him with the flash.

How Are Those Resolutions Going?

I have resolved to finally lose the extra weight.

I have tried before. Nothing seems to work. I work out 5 days a week. I do a combination of running, elliptical machine, and lifting weights. I have tried Weight Watchers, South Beach Diet, and even a short time on the Paleo Diet. I haven't lost any weight yet. After a while, I would give up and go back to bad habits.

For those of you have have been following me for a while, you know I have Hashimoto's which causes a slow metabolism as it destroys you thyroid. While my endocrinologist has my thyroid hormone levels under control with medication, the weight lost just has not been possible yet. It has been frustrating dealing with a doctor who thinks I simply can not stick to a plan. Probably time to find a new endocrinologist too.

Not this year. I refuse to give up. I will lose the weight. I took the first step yesterday. I saw a Naturopath doctor to help me figure out how to fix my diet. Although my calorie count is pretty good, the snacks I was eating were often empty calories. Those 100 calorie packs of crackers are not exactly nutritional gold. The same thing could be said of those diet frozen meals.

I am going to be focusing on eating good whole foods. There will be a lot more planning and cooking of healthy meals.

Although the calorie count probably will not have to change much, the foods will. Some of the foods I use to eat like diet soda and microwave popcorn can actually effect how your body processes things negatively. The Naturopath believes she can help me lose the weight. I hope she is right. Even if she is not, I will not give up. I will find a way.

This whole idea of keeping or maintaining New Years resolutions is part of a discussion over at Life Well Lived at BlogHer. You can join in here.

I’m joining in and I’m entering the sweepstakes too. So should you.

Father Daughter Notes

I know these notes are a little hard to read. I should have directed the flash better. They are the cutest notes. The first note says, "Dear Dad, I'd like to spend some time with you. Love, Caitlin." Dave wrote back on the white board, " Caitlin, I'd love to spend time with you. Let's have a library date this Saturday. Love, Dad" They just started writing notes on the white board. It is the cutest thing ever. This was Monday. They did go on their date on Saturday too.

I shared this on my Project 366 post but had to share again for the happiness project. Seeing these notes makes me so happy. Go see Leigh vs. Laundry to see more photos that will make you happy.

Project 366-Week 2

Week 2 of Project 366 is done. Still going strong. So far.
Excuse the poor quality of the basketball photo. I need to learn how to take a good shot in the gym. I love Caitlin's expression after she shot the ball. She made it too. I made this Valentine's Day wreath. It cost less then $5 to make too. Woo hoo!

Basketball was Saturday. Wreath was Tuesday.

Wednesday I took a close up. Thursday there was an amazing sunset. Friday Davey and I played with the puppy. Sunday Caitlin hung upside down.

Half of a lime cut and squeezed into cup
A maraschino cherry if you have one.
Lots of ice

Bazinga!

We took the kids for duckpin bowling for the first time yesterday. It was so much fun.
Dave bowled a bunch of strikes.
Caitlin won the first game.
This is the face Davey made when he yelled "Bazinga!" after each good roll.

Watching Dave help Davey bowl was so sweet. Another fun family event makes me happy. Also I won the second game!
