Testing the New X Pass/Fast Pass

Disney World is testing out a new fast pass system (sometimes called an X pass.)  We were lucky enough to get to try it out on our trip 2 weeks ago.  We were approached at the Disney’s Magical Express check-in and asked if they wish to take a survey. We said sure.    The cast members explained that they were testing out a new fast pass system.  They asked us for a day that we would be going into the Magic Kingdom.  They gave us a list on attractions that could be fastpassed.  We were allowed to pick a total of 4.  The first date did not work for us due to advanced dining reservations at Cinderella's Castle.

The second dayworked out great.  We had fast passes for Splash Mountain for between 9:10-10:10, Peter Pan's Flight between 10:55-11:55, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh between 12:05-1:05, and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin between1:35-2:35.  When you get in the fast pass line, there is a scanner for your fast pass card.  If the scanner turns green, you are in the time frame.  If the scanner turns red, you are not in the time frame.  The process itself was very easy.

We were also allowed to use our regular passes to get more fast passes.  We get to ride a ton of rides the day we tested out the new fast pass.  Keeping track of the times was easy.  They emailed the confirmation of times and we could check our smart phones.

The possibility of being able to plan your fast passes before you even go on your trip is so incredible.  It makes the idea of going during a busy time more appealing, since you know that you are guaranteed to get on some of your favorite rides.  A Christmas break vacation is no longer out of the question.

How cool is that?! Can't wait to see them in action. :)

That is cool. When we went we got these super passes, as they were handing out special anniversary prizes to random folks. We were at Animal Kingdom and the things we were granted wishes for either had no lines, or the kids would not go on! I did like the regular ones we got for certain rides at other parks though with the timeframe.

I love that they're refining the system, and how cool that you got the chance to test it out!

Brilliant! Sounds great! It was only a matter of time before they came up with something. Glad to know this works well--we will make a note of this! :)
