Freaky Snow Storm

It is the last day to enter my Shag Bag giveaway. Don't forget to enter my Shutterfly Card giveaway too.
***************************************************************************************
If you haven't heard, the East coast was hit by a freaky snow storm before Halloween this year. It was a weird sight to see the beautiful fall leaves covered by snow.
Unfortunately, the leaves held more snow and caused lots of trees and tree branches to break. A driver was trying to avoid a fallen branch on the road and lost control and crashed through our fence.
Fortunately, no one was in the back yard. The dog loves to hang out by the fence. No one was hurt including the driver. I'm thankful that no one was hurt. I'm also thankful the heat and power kicked on this morning after having lost it for a day.
I'm hoping the snow melts quickly and there is no more snow till Christmas. Looks like the kids will be wearing snow boots for trick or treating tonight.

Shutterfly Card Giveaway!

This giveaway is now closed.
I have always loved Shutterfly. So when they asked me to host a giveaway I was thrilled. I used Shutterfly this year to make Father's Day cards. They have so many great options to choose from. I used photos from Disney to make Dave's card. He loved the card. I can tell because he still has the card and knew where it was when I asked for it.
Playful Hues Thanks by Shutterfly
I have used Shutterfly in the past to make Thank You Cards. I love sending thank you cards for the kids' birthday parties with a photo of the kids having fun at the party. I used this card with a photo of Caitlin and her friends dressed in their princess dresses to say thanks for her last birthday. Parents often comment how nice it is to get a photo from the party.
I know I will Shutterfly for our Christmas cards this year. There are so many great options. They have 4 x 8, 5 x 7, folded or flat cards to choose from. I'm not totally set on the card but I love this Snowflakes Ribbon card.

Would you like to make your own Shutterfly cards? Great! Shutterfly has given me 3 promo codes each for 25 free cards to giveaway. All you have to do is head on over to Shutterfly.com and tell me what your favorite design is. Which do you think you'll choose if you win?

You have till November 3 to enter. I will randomly draw 3 winners.

I was not paid to express these opinions regarding Shutterfly. I am happy to have the opportunity to provide three codes to my readers for free holidays cards of their own. I was given a code for myself to create some of my own holiday greetings, but this has had no impact on my opinion of their quality products.

Hand Spider and Wreath Directions

I forgot to share the cute spider hands the kids made. I got the tutorial for Salsa Pie. Check Salsa Pie out. She always has great tutorial for crafts.

These little spiders make me smile.

I shared the Halloween wreath I made last week. Some asked how I made it. It was really simple. I got an embroidery circle, 6 yards of tulle, ribbon, and a small decoration. I cut the tulle into strips about 3 inches wide. I tied the tulle twice around the circle. My length was probably a little too long. So adjust accordingly. I added a cute Halloween cat at the top of the wreath and then added the orange ribbon to hang. Really simple and fun.
Go see Leigh vs. Laundry to see more photos that will make you happy. This is 31 out of 52 for me.

2 Cautionary Tales

First tale:
Dave's coworker found a dead mouse in her car. She did the normal thing and had her husband remove it. Still the car smelled. She took the car to the garage. They found a whole mouse family living in her air vents. The garage said it was quite common for mice to get into cars when they smell food like goldfish in the car. So I am totally banning food in the car from now on.

Second Tale:
I've been dyeing my hair at home a light brown/dark blonde color for a while. I decided it was time for a change. I decided I'm so good with the dyeing that I'd try an auburn color at home. This is what happened:
Totally not the color I thought it would be.
Apparently anything with a hint of red is hard to do. I used a temporary color. It is suppose to wash out in 28 washes. I had already washed it 6 times in this photo. I think it is going to take longer to wash out. I did learn from a high school/Facebook friend that you can wash your hair with dishing washing liquid to get more color out. It does temporarily dry your hair out though. I used a good conditioner and it was ok.
Until I get more of the red out, I'm wearing hoods and hats.

Shag Bag Giveaway!

This giveaway is now closed.

I am so excited to have my Shag Bag review and giveaway. When Calypso Studios asked me to review their Shag Bag, I couldn't have been happier. Love the name. The shag bag is made from recycled scarf materials. I received the tie dye black to review. The quality is great. The bag is such a cute and fun wristlet bag . It is perfect for dancing with the girls. The bag measures 7.5 inches by 5 inches. There is a zippered pocket inside the bag for valuables like a cell phone. The shag bags sell for $20. They are so affordable and worth the money.
I usually carry around a huge purse to carry all the things required for two small kids, including several match box cars, strawberry shortcake dolls, juice boxes, snacks, and a few of my own things like a cell phone and wallet. This purse is not going to fit all that stuff but it is perfect for a night out with my husband. I plan on taking it on our anniversary trip next month.

The Shag Bag also got Caitlin's approval as you can see. I didn't think I'd have to worry about Caitlin borrowing my purse so soon. Would you like your own Shag Bag?

Be sure to visit Calypso Studios to see all their great shag bags and jewelery. Also check out Calypso Studio's facebook page. Calypso Studios is giving away another Shag Bag to a lucky reader. You get to pick the color if you win.

Happy Hiking

Yesterday was a beautiful day. It was unseasonably warm. Dave and the kids were all off, so we decided to go for a hike. This was the first time the kids made it all the way to the top of the mountain.
The view from the top.

The kids and me at the top.

The Lotto Plan

I tend to be a bit of a pessimist or I prefer to say a realist. But when it comes to the lottery or any contest, I think I will win. I day dream about what I would do with my winnings. If I enter to win concert tickets, I plan on who I'll ask to babysit. The lotto calls for big dreams. If I won millions, I would immediately buy a much bigger house.

From hookedonhouses.net

One with closet space.

From polyvore.com

One with a place for the kids to ride their bikes.
Maybe even a window seat or two.
Dave would be able to retire or at least get a less stressful job. I would plan a trip to Disneyworld again.
I would share the money with the special people in my life. I guess the lotto plan is not so big. Someday we will get all those things. We just have to wait a little longer.
So right now, I will enjoy being able to stay home and spend time with my kids. I know I am very lucky but it is still nice to dream.
