My kids are really picky eaters. They pretty much survive on chicken nuggets, pasta, and mac and cheese. They do eat lots of fruits and vegetables but they don't eat many of those kid friendly food. So when Caitlin asked to try a hamburger, I was thrilled.

Even though this is the face she made after trying the burger.

Even though she made that face, she still ate half of the burger. I think that is a victory.
Be sure to go
Leigh vs Laundry to see more photos that are bound to make you happy. This is 1/52 for me.

We had a dollar store date this week. We each had $4 for spend in the dollar store to buy things that would be fun to use on our date.

Dave brought the dice, cards, scrub brush and jelly beans. We played some fun games with the dice and cards. We are saving the brush for another spa date. The jelly beans are always yummy.

I brought silly putty, magic kit, slinkies, and silly glasses and clown nose. We played with the putty. We tried to race the slinkies but they were too short. We had fun trying on the glasses and nose. I attempted to amaze Dave with my magic skills.

It was a fun date.

This is date 46 out of 52 for us.

This is awesome. I love the photos of your purchases! Sounds like a very memorable and happy time. I enjoyed the post! This project really does spread some happy feelings doesn't it??
Great idea for a date night!
I love the hamburger pics... my kids aren't fond of fast food burgers either.
Cute idea to have a dollar store date!
So...McDonalds food is my crack. I could eat it even if I had Montazuma's revenge. And sometimes we will do whatever it takes to see our kids just eat.
Stopped by from the Happiness Project.
What a fun little date idea! And my child is a picky eater too! I know how it is!
It is such a cute (yet disgusted) face she is making. lol
Love the dollar store date idea!
OH MY GEEE! I ADORE the Dollar Store Date idea! I may have to steal that. I promise I will give credit to you :-) and I may even take pics and send them.
fantastic ideas and wonderful photos. My Lil Duck isn't much for the golden arches and junky food either. She'll take a carrot over a cookie any day and I'm thrilled with that.
OMGoodness...that 1st portion cracks me up! (Tho, you and Hubby are fun, too.) My boys are the SAME and this weekend, Sam tried a hamburger for the 1st time. He ate it plane, speared with a fork...so, no bun. (But...he actually liked it...probably because he does already love steak.)
You guys should visit!
Heh. Your kids and I eat the same stuff and I didn't try a burger til I was 20 lol.
Those burgers look delicious! I can't get my girls to try burgers (they are nugget eaters too) so I can relate! The Dollar Store Idea is really great!! Looks like you guys had fun!
Glad they tried burgers! I have very fond memories of going to mcdonalds when I was a kid. Love that face!
You guys are so fun!
And, what's wrong with our kids? My daughter won't touch a hamburger, either.
This post was too fun!! Definitely part of a happiness project :)
Great date.
Funny burger reaction.
=)
PS. I would be smiling BIG if I could eat a burger.
You guys are fun and always so creative!
I do think you had some partial success there with the burger. ;)
I love the whole date night thing. You and your husband are so cute with your date night purchases. LOL!
What a fun idea for a date night!
I also have some picky kids.
I love the Dollar Store!
glad to hear my kids aren't the only one who only eat like 5 things on this planet!!
Love the dollar store- it's the best place to stock up on craft supplies- my kids use them up like there is no tomorrow
Love the fast food shots! My kids are also picky eaters, but they love fast food...
I have a picky eater too. I'm shocked to report that he is thriving by eating mostly Skittles and Gogurt.
you guys are awesome - Silly Putty rocks - did you do the newspaper transfer thingy with the newspaper ?
My hamburger-eating face is very similar to Caitlin's
