Usually Caitlin comes running off the bus and straight into the house. I ask her how school was and she tells me she does want to talk about it. This is our normal exchange.
The other day when I ask, she says that she doesn't want to tell me about it because I might get mad. OK that peaks my interest. I assure her that I won't get mad and that she should tell me what happened in school. She tells me that a little red headed boy followed her to the sink. Then he hugged her. And then she didn't want to tell me what he said. I assure her again that I won't get mad. He told her she was beautiful. He apparently is always telling her she is beautiful.
When did 5 year boys get so much game? He already knows what the girls want to hear.

Oh man! I know I'M not ready for that! Wow, that little boy knows what to say.
She is very beautiful.
Way too soon, but he IS right!
And so it has begun...it's all downhill from here!
A) ADORABLE
B) Brilliant shirt
Great taste all around!
I wonder if maybe he heard his mom saying....Oh, that Caitin is a beautiful child...or something.
But, she is! But yeah, that's pretty young to be flirting. If he's flirting.
She's BEAUTIFUL!
I know what you mean. My boys are 11 and 8 and my daughter is 3. And I'm SO not ready for this. I told them they can start dating the day AFTER I die. But since I don't plan on dying anytime soon, I'm thinking that's not going to happen.
I'd like to think I'm a "cool" Mom and I won't freak out and get all weird, but I know that's not going to happen. As soon as they come home with their first girlfriend, I'll probably cry til I have no more tears left.
And it seems like they're starting younger and younger. And THAT'S SO NOT GOOD!
