I skipped writing last week's Fitness Friday. It wasn't because I was off track. I've been doing great with the workouts and ok with the diet. Here is a quick breakdown of the last two weeks:
2 nights of running class
3 days of elliptical machine (50-55 minutes each)
3 days of 30 day shred and 20 minutes of elliptical machine
2 days jogging(40-45 minutes each)
Despite tracking calories, I haven't lost any weight. In fact I've gained 1.5 lbs. I'm not sure what to do. I'm thinking of seeing a nutritionist to help with my diet. I will investigate that this week.
I alternate between being accepting the way I look and wanting to lose weight. I know I am overweight but I'm also fit. I can run a 9 minute mile (probably faster if I pushed a little harder.) I can run 5 miles. I can complete the 30 Day Shred without stopping. If you haven't done that workout, it really is an accomplishment. I lift weights. I am strong. My body birthed 2 gorgeous kids and provided for them with breastfeeding. I try to focus on the positive things my body can do. Still I can't help but think about looking better when I'm thinner, being faster, and healthier too.

You are doing fantastically, just keep at it that's the main thing.
Well make sure you're not over-doing it or you'll push yourself too hard and give up. Do what you're comfortable with because you don't want to wake up so sore that you feel you have to skip a day. If possible start trying portion control. Fill you plate as you normally would and take 1/4 off for two weeks then after that take another 1/4 off. After that you'll be eating the foods you love in half the portions! Your stomach will shrink and with the workout's you're doing you will absolutely see results. The gain could also be just water weight because we're women and we have that to deal with or it could be your body burning fat and converting it into muscle, and of course you know muscle weighs more that fat. DO NOT step on a scale. It's the worst thing you can do. That is what makes us give up. Just keep doing what you're doing and measure it by how your clothes are fitting you. It's way less stressful.
Great Job! Overall health is so hard. There are so many facets ...it can be frustrating! I have been struggling with the same thing trying to get more healthy eating into my home. Hang in there!
Great Job. Sounds like you're doing an excellent job.
It sounds like you are doing great.

Maybe you're overweight, but you're totally kicking ass. Hitting a plateau sucks, I know. Crazy idea? Maybe you need more calories. The body does bizarre things sometimes when you're trying to lose weight.
first, you are working out A LOT. be careful so you don't burn out. Also, you could be gaining masses of muscle due to all this exercise, and muscle weighs more than fat.
My other thought is that when I work out a lot, I get hungrier and eat more...could that be part of it?
Also, have you had your thyroid checked? and when you weigh in, do you do it at the same time of day each time?
I hear ya, sistah! My body just seems to want to stay where it is at the moment. I push and push and still get nowhere...except injured. I'm taking a new approach - getting more sleep & drinking more water. Both things can up your metabolism. I've increased my sleep by an hour a night for the last 10 days. I haven't jumped on the scale lately (hate that thing), but my skinny shorts are fitting a little better and I feel great. And when I do get a little discouraged, I remember how awesome it is that my body managed to carry 2 babies after my 40th birthday, and how it still gets me from point A to point B pretty darn well.
Keep up the good work. Try looking at inches instead of #s and keep remembering that you're strong & you rock!
I don't know a lot about fitness but keep reminding myself that muscle weighs more then fat!
Holy Cow! I couldn't do all of that if I had to!
Like Erin said, muscle weighs more than fat. Hang in there!
As you know, I could have written this. I had a breakthrough when I started to eat more often and more protein. But that breakthrough was TINY and nothing has happened since. I just wanted to say, I hear you, sister!
It sounds like you're doing awesome to me, and if you're working out and gaining muscle, couldn't that contribute to the weight gain??
Wow! You're AMAZING!!!
First off, this is totally me: "I alternate between being accepting the way I look and wanting to lose weight."
Except I'm not fit. I'm fat. I'm [mostly] healthy, but fat. You motivate me in ways that words cannot truly and fully describe. Thank you. And keep on kickin' a$$!!
I think we all know that health and fitness is so much more important than appearances...but we don't really believe that, do we? No one would ever think that I need to lose weight, yet I poke my soft previous-home-of-two-separate-babies tummy and sigh.
