Me: Caitlin I don't want to see you walking on the couch.
Caitlin: Don't look then.
She wasn't being fresh. She just thought she found a solution to my problem.

Not Me Monday-The Potty Training Edition
I did not decide to start potty training my son. I did not make this decision since we spend so much time in the bathroom using the potty and washing our hands already. I was not dreading starting this process in earnest. I did not only agree to start on Sunday because I was going shopping with friends for part of the day. I was not excited that Dave would get to deal with part of the first day of potty training.
Davey did not go through 9 pairs of underpants yesterday. I am not counting the two times he peed on the carpet and the two times he peed on the wall. Those were clearly not accidents. They did not seem quite intentional.
Davey did not watch me wash the little potty out with water and dump it into the big toilet. He did not decided to try that by himself when I went to answer the phone. He did not dump water all over the floor when he missed getting it into the toilet . The little plastic potty was not practically floating in water by the time I got back.
Earlier in the week, Davey did not shampoo his hair and fill the sink with bubbles with hand soap. I did not put the hand soap on the toothbrush shelf. Davey did not later climb into the sink to be able to reach it and resume the bubble fun. Our hand soap is not now located on a shelf I can barely reach. This is not super convenient.
It is not Monday and time again for Not Me Monday. It is a meme where we share all the things we did Not this week. MckMama is our host at My Charming Kids . Go over there to see what other people remember not doing this week too.

Wardrobe Wednesday
And I thought he would be mad about the sitting on the potty shots.
Davey has been loving Caitlin's shoes lately. Dave half jokingly said it was breaking his heart. I'm sure he likes them because he can get them on by himself. He is very independent you know.

Wordless Wednesday-His and Hers
The kids love to bring their toys to bed. Davey cuddles with his cars. I wish he would take the nice squishy ones but he cuddles with the hard plastic ones. We sneak in after he falls asleep to take them out of the bed. If he catches us in the act, he grabs them and holds them tight.
Caitlin has the more traditional bedtime toys. She needs to sleep with all these animals and sometimes more. Her arm often hangs off the bed because their is so many toys. She occasionally wakes up at night frantic because she can not find her pink bunny.
They are only young once. I probably will miss this when they stop sleeping with 14 different toys.

Move Faster Momma!
Last Wednesday was a steamy and cloudy day. I decided to take the kids for a lunch jog. They eat while I push them in the double stroller. They don't seem to mind the jog if they get to eat. We talk while I jog (when I can breathe). Pushing 70+lbs. of kid is no easy task but it is an activity that we all seem to enjoy.
Anyway I'm jogging along and a car slows down next to me. I think maybe someone needs directions. Nope, that was not it. This old lady yells out the window, "Move faster Momma." I thought yelling thoughtless comments out car windows was reserved for the immature adolescent male.
I've had my share of boys yells things out of car windows. They seem to fall into three categories: noise, "compliments" , and insults. Sometimes the boys just yell. I really don't know why they yell incoherently. Woooooooo is a popular noise to yell. Maybe they are too dumb to form coherent sentences.
The "compliments" rarely really feel like compliments. I usually feel the need to shower after hearing these compliments. I've never understood what they thought would occur after they yelled something like, "Nice rack." Did they think I would chase the car and ask for a date?
Lastly, you get the insults. I don't get why some people feel the need to yell insulting things to strangers. I remember in college running by a house with 3 guys drinking beer on the porch and yelling I better kept running. Was that I threat or just an insult? I'm not sure. All I know is the yelling makes me want to buy a treadmill and run inside.
The old woman drove slowly for a while like she was expecting me to give her a thumbs up sign. I gave her a different finger though.
So that is what is ticking me off this Tuesday. Please share your comments on this and what is ticking you off this Tuesday.

I Heart Faces-Let's Hear It for the Boys
This week's I Heart Faces contest is "Let's here it for the boys." This photo just shows Davey's personality.
Looking on the Bright Side
The weather around here has been pretty wet for a couple of weeks. We have had breaks of sunshine but overall it has been a bit gloomy. I wanted to think about the positive things. So here is my list of things that are good about this wet and cool weather:
- We haven't had to turn the air conditioning on.
- The kids are getting to use their raincoats and rain boots.
- I really make the kids' day if I let them splash in puddles.
- The kids long sleeved shirts and pants are getting lots of wear before the outgrow them.
- We are inside a lot so the house is cleaner. It is hard to ignore the mess if you are inside all day.
- We are reading lots of library books.
- We are saving money on sunscreen.
- Bubbles don't pop as quickly on wet grass.
- We are finding things to do inside. (Fun at the mall, library, kids museum, etc.)
- I haven't killed the garden yet. I usually forget to water. No need to worry lately.

Not Me Monday
It is not Monday and time again for Not Me Monday. It is a meme where we share all the things we did Not this week. MckMama is our host at My Charming Kids . Go over there to see what other people remember not doing this week too.
I did not make my daughter try on a swimsuit in the back on a Gymboree. They really did not have a fitting room. I had not already brought and returned 6 swimsuits that did not fit when Caitlin was not with me. Caitlin did not tell me that she was not suppose to change in the store and that the lady working there wouldn't like it. I did not tell her the lady told me to have her try it on in the back of the store. I did not worry that I scarred my 4 year old by doing this. I really will not do this to her again. Mommy guilt is not a powerful thing.

While at the mall this week my son dropped his chicken nuggets on the floor. I did not check them out and then let him eat them. That would be too gross. Davey did not refuse to eat the nuggets till a cute girl friend feed them to him. He did not look like a chipmunk as he let his friend stuff 2 chicken nuggets in his mouth at once. When I told Dave this story, he did not say boys will do things they wouldn't do if it were not for cute girls. Ain't that the truth!

I picked these photos even though you couldn't see her mismatching blue striped socks because these shots just show her personality. If you click to enlarge you can see her shirt is actually green and pink striped. She rocks out no matter what she wears.

Then and Now
Then: Listening to the Dave Matthews Band meant going to the show, drinking lots of beer, dancing, and lots of fun.
Now: Listening to DMB means watching the band perform on the Today show and watching the kids dance. Still lots of fun.
