Reading List

We recently discovered our library has a list they compiled of 125 books kids should read before entering kindergarten. We thought it would be fun to start reading Caitlin books from the list. My husband, Dave, tends to get really focused on a project. He turned their list into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. He alphabetized the list by author to make finding the books easier. He has been getting Caitlin about 8 books each trip to the library. He is going 2-3 times a week. Caitlin loves reading so she is really happy about Daddy's new project. She had read 20 books on the list before we started. We have now read about 60 books. Caitlin has another year and half before kindergarten. I think we will finish the list in plenty of time.

Ticked Off Tuesday-Mother Nature

I've got some serious cabin fever. I try to get out of the house and do some activity each day but it is not the same as just playing outside. Mother Nature bring on Spring. Please! I need the vitamin D. I've got a bad case of the Blahs and I'm hoping warmth and sunshine will make it better.

Not Me Monday

I did not wish for a sound proof partition in my car when my children were yelling/singing at the top of their lungs. I love hearing the little angels sing.

I did not put a sweater over my son's onesie when he spilled a little of my tea on it. That would be so lazy to hide the messy shirt. He did not run around so much at the in laws that I had to take the sweater off and reveal the messy onesie. My son would not rat his mother out (if I did that).

I did not go to Chuck E. Cheese during school vacation. I would realize that it would be crammed with kids and a total madhouse. I am too smart for that. Chasing an almost 2 year old with the almost 4 year in tow would not be fun.

Weekly Winners

My computer is back up and running after getting rid of an awful virus. I'm so excited to be back to regular posting and commenting. This week I tried to have a photo session with my kids. The results weren't as good as I hoped but I managed to get some good ones. I need help with my flash. I also had some outdoor shots I liked. Thanks for stopping by.

We went to a Winterfest today. It was pretty good. Davey was being a fussy creep so we didn't enjoy it for very long. All that boy wants to do is run. That is a topic for another post. They had snowboarding on rail demonstrations. This was my favorite shot.

Shaving Cream Fun

I tried the fun with shaving cream idea again but this time I got smart and started them in the bath tub. I used a boogey board to put the shaving cream on. It worked well and the kids had fun.

Mischievous Maximus.

My super dog, Maximus.

We didn't know what we got ourselves into when we got our yellow lab, Maximus. Maximus gives Marley a run for his money. We had to keep Maximus in a crate when we went to work or he would chew everything he could reach. We felt guilty keeping him in such a small space so we baby gated him into our kitchen. He started jumping the gate so then we double gated (one on top of the other) him in. We child/dog proofed the cabinets to prevent him from biting tuperware. We thought we took all the things out that could hurt him or he could wreck. We were wrong.

I came home from work and there was no Maximus happily barking at the gate. I knew that meant trouble. When I looked into the kitchen, I saw a cowering Maximus. He looked up at me with those big brown eyes and a slight tail wag as if to say you still love me right? The kitchen was covered in cleaning powder and cleaning liquid. You could see paw marks where he walked around. Apparently the child proof locks were not dog proof and he got into the cleaning products and had a blast. I scolded Maximus and tried not to smile. I love Maximus despite all his mischief.

I attempted to take some portraits of the kids today. I can't get the hang of my fancy swivel flash. This was taken with regular old on-board flash. The shots with the swivel flash either have too much light or not enough. I like this shot even though it was not what I was aiming for.

Caitlin insisted on wearing this tub hat to the grocery store this morning. People grinned at her. Being 3 3/4 years old is pretty cool.

Ticked Off Tuesday-Its sabotage!

Who am I ticked off with today? Me. I'm mad at myself. I have been sabotaging my own diet. It is so weird. I start losing weight. Then I get all cocky and think if I lost weight and "cheated" a little, then I probably can still cheat a little more. The only problem is the little cheating becomes too much cheating and I start to undo the hard work I have done. I am really going to get myself back under control again. I went out to dinner twice, which means even with best intentions I still ate more calories than if I ate at home. I didn't have my computer last week which lead to more mindless snacking. I have to stop making excuses. If dieting was easy, we would all be skinny. So I'm back on the diet bandwagon this week. My plan is to stick to my diet/points and work out hard. No more self sabotage.

Not Me Monday

I didn't explain the 5 second rule to my daughter when she cried after dropping her cereal bar. That just wouldn't be hygienic.

I didn't blog while sitting in a filthy house. I didn't enjoy 30 minutes of silence while my son napped and my daughter had quiet time. That would be a waste of time.

I didn't let my son change the channel on the TV to the Spanish channel. I didn't hope that he learned Spanish by listening. That would be silly.
