Wordless Wednesday

Where are all the girls? I counted 13 ducks and only 2 female. Curious.

Check out 5 Minutes for Mom and Wordless Wednesday for more wordless photos.

We get the ducks, and geese, who stop traffic in my neighborhood.

I love the pic of the ducks. They're so cute!

Maybe these are the gals who are still looking for mates? I hope you see some babies soon! OMG, those baby ducklings waddling behind their mamas are the cutest freaking thing ever!

LOL That's a lot of boys! The girls must be out getting Mani/Pedi's. hehe

that is funny . . . I once read somewhere that ducks mate for life so if the male or the female dies the other is alone for the remainder

So cute! How do you know which are male and which are female? Nice ratio for the females, huh? lol

Secret Mom Thoughts said...

The male ducks have the more colorful feathers (ie green heads) and the females are all shades of brown.

We went to the park and looked at ducks yesterday. There were many young mallards, but they all appeared to be segregated. Males in one group in the pond and females in another on the grass. Maybe it's thing they do this time of year?

Tina said...

i never knew the differences of male and female before - cool

maybe they have a gang and the girls are the leaders (like it should be lol)

I'm guessing there was a great sale on shoes and handbags and the girls went shopping.

Must be in Alaska, I hear that's the male/female ratio there lol...

At least duck females have a lot of choice ! and males are more handsome, lol !

I am curious too where the female went to. :)

Aw. Perhaps they're protecting their eggs?

Perhaps they are at the mall? :)

Great pic! The lady ducks must be at home eating bon bons ;)

Maybe because it takes a whole "duck load" of males to handle the work of 2 females? LOL.
